What I've been building
Every entry below was written by a Claude agent from that day's commits, prompts and session notes.

-
Going back from a finished story lands where you expect
A small day, one fix and some notes for later.
- Three improvements were noted for later: a text box that grows line by line, story history that reads as notes, and tidier pop-up messages.
- Fixed the back arrow on a finished story sometimes landing on an unhelpful error screen; it now always returns to the log.
-
Two new pieces for lists of optional things
Two additions to the shared component set, both off by default so no existing screen changes.
- Grouped lists can now sit on a soft tinted background, chosen over a border because both border colours measured too faint to see.
- List rows gain an add style, a dashed ring matching the tick circle, so something you could add reads differently from something already owed.
- The planner’s Today design swaps its lone log-a-habit button for a zone of unlogged habits built from the two new pieces.
-
Log a habit straight from Today
Most of today went on habits, on the screen and by text message.
- Every habit you haven’t logged today now sits at the end of Today, so recording one is a tap instead of opening a separate picker.
- You can now move a repeating task or habit to another day by text, where before the reply told you to open the app.
- Fixed an add button blocked by the saved-task message, daily habits labelled weekly, a misaligned history grid, a stuck weekly count, and clumsy messages.
-
The storymap case study now shows the real tool
Most of today was case study polish, with time set aside to plan a new build log for the site.
- The storymap case study now shows real captures of the grid and a card being dragged between release stages, instead of placeholder blocks.
- The live link on each case study now reads Try it, and storymap repeats it lower down where you’d most want to open the app.
- The site header now slides away as you scroll down and returns as you scroll up, giving small screens more room to read.
- On phones the app screenshots now fill the screen with a peek of the next one, so they’re easier to read and swipe.
- Started planning an automated build log that turns each day’s commits into a plain-language note about what changed for you.
- Fixed off-centre carousel captions, a controls row that shifted between slides, cluttered tags above case study titles, and inconsistent title dividers.
-
Saved edits to a board now show up straight away
Today went on a caching bug that hid saved changes from signed-in editors.
- When you save changes to a board, you now see them straight away, instead of an old copy your browser had held onto for up to four hours.
-
Dependency updates now arrive checked and in one place
Most of today went on the machinery that keeps the projects building and deploying.
- The portfolio and its sister sites now count visitors even behind an adblocker, because analytics requests moved to an address block lists can’t match.
- Dependency and GitHub Actions updates now arrive as a plain-English card with a pass-or-fail check, so approving one no longer means reading release notes.
- The deploy pipelines moved off a retired runtime, so builds keep working as GitHub drops the old one.
- The portfolio’s production security scan no longer flags build-only tools, so a real warning stands out instead of hiding among false alarms.
- Fixed a dev server that could fail to start on a fresh machine because a shared link pointed at the wrong project.

Every habit shows up after you plan your week
The weekly review and the Timeline both got attention.
- You can now see every habit’s progress on the screen shown after planning your week, including flexible ones left off before.
- Fixed those progress grids showing too small, awkward habit-nudge wording, and the Timeline losing today’s marker for people in Australian time zones.
-
Safer automated file edits in the coding harness
The behind-the-scenes tooling that runs this workspace got new safety rails and a clean-up.
- Automated builds that work through a multi-step plan now run to the end, where before they could stop partway and need restarting.
- A new guard blocks find-and-replace edits that can silently overwrite the wrong line, steering the tools to a safer editor instead.
- Instruction files were stripped of thousands of words of old incident notes, so each work session starts with less to load.
- Running a single test file now works in one step across every project, instead of waiting on a slow full check.
- Fixed a safety check that wrongly blocked a valid file-removal command.

Behind-the-scenes work on keeping past habit days accurate
Work continued on making each recurring habit record what happened on a day, so a past day stays correct after you change its schedule.
-
The site's highlight colour is now forest green
Most of the day reworked the site’s colours and the look of the homepage cards.
- Highlights across the site, from badges to links to buttons, are now forest green instead of purple, a look that read as AI-generated.
- Homepage project cards no longer show tag chips, giving each card larger, clearer artwork in the freed-up space.
- The diagrams on the storymap case study were re-tinted to match the new green, so the page reads as one palette.
-
The build assistant now writes in plain English
Most of the day went on making the assistant that builds these projects easier to read.
- The assistant now answers with the point first and in the simplest words that work, so a reply reads clearly the first time.
- A check now blocks any reply that reads too densely before it goes out, so the plain style holds even in a long session.
- The main instruction files were rewritten in plain English, since they set the tone the assistant copies every session.
- Wrote up plans for two possible future projects: a low-maintenance website for a friend and a personal shopping assistant.

Retire a design check that flagged differences that weren't real
An automated check that compared storymap’s design mockups against the live app was removed, because it kept reporting differences that were never real.

-
Undo a skip that used to get stuck on repeating tasks
Undoing a skip was the focus, both on the day something was skipped and later.
- You can now undo a skip on a task that repeats every few days, weeks or months, where before tapping Undo just returned an error.
- A skipped item now keeps an “Undo skip” control on both Today and its detail screen, so you’re no longer stuck once the brief undo message disappears.

-
Groundwork for the new reminder scheduling engine
Checks that compare a new way of scheduling reminders against the current one cleared their last blocker, so the trial period before switching over can start.
26 July 2026
-
Groundwork for more reliable recurring tasks
This was internal work on how repeating tasks and habits are stored, with nothing to see on screen yet.

-
Habit reminders reach the habits that were missing them
Text-message reminders now reach two kinds of habit that were quietly missing out.
- Habits you do a set number of times a week now get their own reminder text, where before that type never sent one.
- Fixed a reminder for a habit you moved to a chosen day arriving on its usual day instead of the day you picked.
-
Move old project history out of the always-on notes
Two projects’ notes had filled with dated session logs, so those logs moved to separate history files and the everyday notes were trimmed back to current guidance.

-
See the dates you last did a habit or task
The detail page for a habit or repeating task gained a record of when you actually did it.
- You can now see your last ten completion dates on a task, so you can answer “when did I last do this” without reading it off the grid.
- Fixed missed days on a habit grid showing as blank instead of grey, and the Today heading scrolling away instead of staying pinned at the top.
-
Deploy buttons no longer stay stuck spinning after a run finishes
The deploy buttons on the versions dashboard now show a run’s true outcome when you return to the tab, where before they could spin forever on a phone after the deployment had already finished.
-
Wrote up how to debug a phone-only bug from server traces
The debugging notes gained a method for diagnosing a frontend bug from server-side traces alone, when the failing device cannot be inspected.

-
Save a finished story as done, with no reminder attached
Stories that arrive finished no longer get stuck waiting for a check-in you didn’t ask for.
- A story you save with a result now lands as done with no next-check date, so you aren’t chased to revisit something already finished.
- You can now mark any waiting story as done in one tap, so a result that turns up later can close it off.
- Fixed the Log’s first tab, which was labelled “Active” but only ever showed finished stories; it now reads “Done”.
-
Log a habit on any day and have it count
Flexible habits with a weekly target now count every completion, whenever you log it.
- You can now log a make-up completion on a day the habit wasn’t scheduled, so a missed occurrence still counts toward your weekly goal.
- Completions beyond your target now count as bonuses, so a strong week can read four of three instead of stopping at the goal.

Rows in the log-another-habit sheet take taps again
Tapping a row inside the “Log another habit” sheet now works on touch devices, where before the tap started sliding the sheet instead and nothing was selected.
-
Completing a task no longer flickers a different colour
Ticking off a task used to flash one green then settle on another, and now finished tasks and habits each keep a single, consistent colour.
